EVERYTHING SPARKS JOY BY AIKO TOMI

Aiko is one of the coolest creative souls I've had the honour of getting to know recently. Her new release 'Everything Sparks Joy' is electric. Straight up electric. Aiko's listening party was tucked in a speakeasy style venue in Toronto where she rocked the stage performing, live producing and changing fits to match each song. It was so much fun and I was in awe of her spirit, creative vision(artwork is 10/10 )and ability to capture the crowd with her charm. Here are some pics from the event + an exclusive interview with Aiko and myself.  Stream Everything Sparks Joy here: https://fanlink.tv/EverythingSparksJoy

P: Everything Sparks Joy is such an awesome title, what brings you the most joy?

Aiko: It sounds kind of woo-woo, but honestly, it's the feeling of connectedness that happens when I follow my intuition with openness and sincerity. I’ve cold-approached strangers and ended up in beautiful conversations that turned into real friendships or collaborations. It doesn’t always land. Sometimes I overthink it and the moment glitches. But when I let the impulse move naturally, I get this full-body sensation that feels like the universe is smiling and saying, “Yep, that was the move.” It radiates outward, like an aura glow. I can’t even believe I’m using these words, lol, but it’s the most accurate way I can describe it. And when I block that impulse, I really feel the gut punch of the disconnect — which makes those joyful moments hit even harder.

P: If an alien emerged from another planet, what’s one song would you tell it to listen to and why?
Aiko: Someone once called me a hoarder and I said, “I’m not a hoarder, I’m an indecisive minimalist — EVERYTHING sparks joy!” That line literally became the album title, so this question kind of breaks my brain. If they threatened to kidnap my puppy, I’d say: Start with “delulu demon” — just to get your bearings on the general human psychological leaning — then report back after your first Earth-based ego death. But let’s be real. If they made it this far, they can stream the full album. It’s layered. Just like Earth.

P: You have incredible creative direction with your music and visuals, so we want to know what’s next?
Aiko: I feel so lucky to have worked with such killer musical and visual collaborators. For this album, Andrew Rasmussen brought textured, imaginative production that shaped every corner of the record; Keely “Poi” Majewski created bold, intricate artwork that captured the personality of each track; and directors Ewan Mac and Bradley Shemmell expanded the world of my songs by turning their striking visions into stunning music videos. Riding the wave from Everything Sparks Joy, I’m diving into a few new collaborations I’m genuinely excited about. Each one pushes a different side of my artistry, and I love having an accomplice in that kind of creative mischief. Some collabs are with artists I’ve admired for years, and we finally made it happen this year, which feels huge. All of these collaborators have expanded my artistry in their own way, and I can’t wait to see where we take it next.
